Ayurveda and Yoga are sister sciences that have been united for thousands of years for the sake of healing body, mind, and consciousness. While Ayurveda deals more with the health of the body, yoga deals with purifying the mind and consciousness. It is obvious that Ayurveda and yoga complement and embrace each other as they share similarities and fundamental principles on many levels setting our path to happiness and wellness. The two practices share the same philosophical foundation, aattitude, nutrition, diet, hygiene, exercise, cleansing and even spiritual practices.
The ancient rishis (seers) were the original masters of all Vedic sciences and always connected good health with the path toward Self-realization. If the body is neglected, it can easily become an obstacle to spiritual practice. If you practiced meditation, you are aware of how difficult it can be to sit still for long periods of time without feeling discomfort and fatigue. Ayuverda teaches how to treat the body well, prevent and heal various disorders, cleanse and rejuvenate the body while balancing the physical discomforts so detrimental to a fullfilling Yoga practice.
